4 out of 5 stars Replay XD720 HD

I was looking for something lighter and more compact than the Go Pro camera. I found two things i really liked about this camera, they were the price and the small compact size. It is not complicated to use, just charge and turn on and shoot. It came with the 4gb sd card and it recorded about an hour and 1/2 on a full charge. I have only used it once so far in a crosscountry motorcycle race. Sound was not bad, i used a sound deading tape supplied with camera to cut down on wind noise. The race was thru trees and open area's some of the trails had heavy shading, the camera did it's best to adjust to the different light changes, and based on the internal set ups from the factory i thought it did a good job. The more expensive cameras may handle the quick changes in light better, but i am not a video freak and just wanted some good quality footage of the rides that i do, and i am very satisfied. A person i race with said he used to wear his Go Pro on top of his helmet but almost took his head off when it hit a low hanging branch, with is why i love the low profile of the camera. If you are a full blown video freak, then pay the extra 200 dollars for a camera with more adjustments that carter has liver pills, but for you folks that want a great picture with nothing more than point and shoot, save your money buy the Replay and have a fun weekend somewhere with the extra 200 you saved..

2 out of 5 stars Not rainproof, very disappointing.

Before I purchased this I emailed Replay to ask if the camera would survive rain and they said rain will not be a problem. This is very important for me because it rains a lot in Malaysia and as a motorcycle rider, you are sure to get caught in rain every once in a while.Sadly, my XD720 has died a second time after rain and the warranty is over. The 1st camera died and they told me the windbreaker (tape) had to cover the microphone opening to ensure the camera was water resistant. I argued that the manual said nothing about this and they replaced it for me. This time, I'll just let it be because even if I argue with them and they replace it for me, I'll still end up with a camera that will not survive heavy rain.Besides that, Replay has quality control issues. The 1st camera I received came with a faulty USB cable and the battery didn't live up to their stated 2 hours record time (720p @ 30fps). It only lasted 1 and a half hours at 720p 30fps and and 1 hour at 720p 60fps (should have been 1 and a half hours). At first we suspected it was the USB port that was faulty, but I sent the camera back to them together with the cable and asked them to check it just in case. Of course, they didn't and when I received my camera back, it still had USB problems. They replaced the cable and camera the second time I sent it back to them, for water damage.Another major issue, the warranty is only 6 months. Normally when I buy electronic products, I expect at least a 1 year warranty. I should have heeded this warning and not buy this camera. What's good about this camera? It's bullet shape, size, and weight is really great for helmets. It's so light, there's no wind drag, you don't even feel the camera on your helmet.Read more ›

3 out of 5 stars Great video and a perfect form factor, with good support, no firmware updates

I want to like this product. The price point is right, the form factor is perfect for RC flying, when you get video it looks very good but this is where the story turns.I have placed my camera on a motorcycle helmet, an RC Car and two RC planes. Start the power with a vibration to tell you it started, push the record button with another vibration and go... Finish what you are doing and go to shut down the camera and nearly every time it has locked up and will not stop. Reset the camera and go back to download and maybe I have video or more commonly not. This is hugely frustrating! The form factor is great. You can mount it on anything and it does not take up much space. Starting and stoping it is indicated with a vibration. The kit includes mounts for helmets and flat surfaces and is very secure once snapped in. Removing the camera can be tough but if you are placing the camera in the intended location of a moving vehicle or for action shots it is nice to know the camera is secure. The case is solid metal and can take a reasonable hit or two.Audio is not great but what do you expect from a pin hole mic placed near running motors or in the air stream.Downloading files is a little tough. You need to remove the microSD card, put it in a card reader and download your video. Time/Date stamps can not be changed and always show November 9, 2012 with the same file name when downloading. You must be careful or automatic photo management software like iTunes will overwrite previous videos unless you first copy the file to a different location and rename it prior to importing. You can not import over a USB cable into either PC or Mac.There is a way to make this a web cam but there are cheaper products for that purpose.Read more ›

5 out of 5 stars Great Replacement for GoPro
Juan A. Soto

First of all the shipping was top notch, I was supposed to receive this product on monday the 15th. I received a text friday afternoon stating that my XD720 was waiting for me. I was a little shocked considering i ordered it Wednesday evening, what surprised me more was that it was shipped from New York.Secondly this camera is ridiculously light, almost the same size and weight of a LED flashlight. It can take up to a 32Gb micro SD card but i would suggest getting an 8Gb micro SD card. I say this because on one charge you won't get more than 6-7 Gb's of footage unless you get the external power source (also sold by Replay XD)Lastly the Locking swivel mount is perfect for getting just the right angle without the guesswork of the lowboy mount option. All in all if you want something cheaper than a GoPro and that shoots the same amount of HD quality as a GoPro. Its also a unique option to record your actions.Pros:Lighter than a Gopro (Can be a con for some)Cheaper than a Gopro (720p version at least)Same amount of mounting options as the GoProMounts hold the camera FlawlesslyCons:Only 120 mins of battery on one charge1080p version costs the same as a GoProExtra mounts can be a little pricey
