4 out of 5 stars Great for camping, but typo in specs
John

This item is great for its intended use, but there is a major typo on the packaging - it heats to 198F (as stated on the back of the package), not 198C as stated on the front.I wanted to use this to make freshly-baked cupcakes -- a little crazy, I know, but it should have worked. The difference is that 198 C (=390 F) is baking temperatures, while 198 F is reheating temperatures. I measured 160F maximum, but that's probably because I'm at high altitude (=lower boiling temperature) and the way my thermometer worked.A lot of heat with little mess - quite impressive!

5 out of 5 stars As advertised

I've only used it once since my purchase. I figured I'd need to learn how it works before actually needing it. The heat produced is enough to heat up a can of coffee, defrosted a frozen piece of steak and burn my hand in one sitting. Can't wait for the zombies to come. Now I'm ready!

5 out of 5 stars Awesome!

These worked great. For a full size can of food, it does take 2 heater bags. If it i a smaller can, then just the one does fine. I like that the measuring cup is in the bag as well. Well worth the money for the times we couldn't have an open flame for cooking.

3 out of 5 stars Gets hot, but doesn't last long.

Using 2 activated "bags" I could almost heat a freeze dried meal up to luke-warm. Maybe 4 or 6 could do the job right.

4 out of 5 stars Ramen noodles barely cooked
MrPat

OK! So I decided my test cooking should include a very basic and understandable benchmark for me and most everyone else; Ramen Noodles! In case if you are confused if it is cup ramen or whatever other kind of ramen noodles that exist, it's this kind and flavor: http://amzn.to/TsmytXSo, I added 2 cups of water to a pouch and put the pouch inside the cooking bag, I used 1 heating pack and there was quite a bit of steam. So I waited around 10 minutes and it was cooked. A tiny bit warmer then luke warm and the ramen noodles were barely cooked. Honestly, I think 2 packets would be better for the ramen noodles, it would be hot and the noodles would be well-cooked. Overall I am satisfied with this product but it borders being unsatisfied. Honestly I think the problem isn't in the fact that the product was bad but just the fact that it is expensive to make for what it does. Can't be helped if the raw material cost is high I guess.F.Y.I. I'm tempted to give the product a 3/5 review, once again because of how expensive it is. FRH really are specialized products for a reason though.
