Get Cars 2 World Grand Prix Race Launcher

Better than expected

We just got this and my 3 1/2 year old loves it. It is easy enough for him to operate and he is self-sufficient with it. Sometimes the door latches (2 per door, 4 total) are a bit hard for him to snap/unsnap but that's the only difficulty he has. The case seems sturdy and durable.There are 2 independent doors that swing down to become the exit ramps. Each has a spring loaded launcher that is cocked by pulling back the levers on the top of the case. The 2 gray buttons release the launchers, which propel the two sets of cars. So depending on how simultaneously the buttons are pressed one set inevitably launches first. You can use one side at a time as well, leaving the other side closed. Each lane/bay has the flag and number of the associated World Grand Prix car from the movie. As mentioned before, it does not work with cars that are too narrow - the wheels will not straddle the rectangular cutouts in the case and the cars will not launch properly. But for the 1:55 cars and standard Hot Wheels it works fine.The cars are pushed surprisingly far if on a smooth hard floor, with occasional spin outs. Some other reviewers has issues with the strength of the launchers, but our Cars go 15+ feet on tile. Cars with the synthetic rubber tires don't go as far as the ones with plastic tires.When closed up as a case the cars have room to rattle and turn, and do require repositioning when reopened. But the latches are secure; if closed properly there is no way for cars to accidentally dump out.Overall a bit pricy for a case but it's much more than a case and well worth it for hours of unattended play. It's nice that you don't need any additional track or parts, just a smooth floor.

Holds the 10 Race Cars from the Cars 2 Movie

Cars 2 World Grand Prix Race Launcher is basically a car case for the 10 race cars from the Cars 2 movie. It can "launch" the cars simultaneously by pressing down on 2 buttons. The cars race about 18" on a wood floor, so the launcher isn't very powerful. Each slot has a sticker representing the race car number and country of the race cars from the Cars 2 movie for these characters:1. Nigel Gearsley 92. Shu Todoroki 73. Miguel Camino 54. Ready Set Go

We've had this since it came out. My kid abuses this and it's held up well for the past month. It's plastic so not sure it's good for the long haul but it's built well. It doesn't launch small cars well but works well with most hot wheels, CARS and Tomica cars.

Good toy.

I works well with many kinds of cars, just not small ones or odd shaped ones. You pull a thing back that locks then push a button to launch them when ready. My 4yr old has a little issue with getting the thing pulled back to lock. He really loves it though, it is always fun for everyone to pick a car and see which car goes the futurist.

doesn't really "launch"

We just bought this this afternoon, along with 10 of the new Cars cars. First off, stop packaging these types of toys with a cheap plastic car, it's not worth anything except as a cake decoration. The launcher part of this toy is OK, doesn't really get the cars very far, but my 3 year old seems to be OK with it, and can operate it by himself - a key aspect of any toy. I think it would do better with lighter cars than the Cars cars, like Hotwheels or Matchbox. The carrying case is a great idea, as we've yet to find a carrier that can carry some of the bigger cars like Mater, so this will be nice to be able to take with us to the grandparent's houses. Not sure how durable it is as we've only had it a few hours, but it IS plastic, so there's just no telling this soon.

Happy with this toy's storage space

Santa brought this toy for my 5 year old son for Christmas and he loves it. He was accumulating many Cars cars and didn't have a good way to store them. This toy stores quite a few cars, and it is really cute when it is set up as a set of stands for a race with all of the cars watching in the stands. He is able to leave them set up in his room on display this way, or the toy can be closed up and has a carrying handle to take with us. Good value for the money and definitely made him happy.
