Scrub parts by having an old toothbrush after draining the top.
Many vehicle parts, paintball marker components along with other aluminum products are anodized. Anodizing produces a protective oxide coating on aluminum objects, stopping corrosion and strengthening the top. Anodizing may also be used to produce a durable colored layer at first glance of a bit of aluminum. With time, anodized finishes can fade. They might also develop scratches and nicks. In these instances, it might be better to take away the old finish to ensure that you are able to re-anodize the piece.
Instructions
1. Clean the aluminum part completely. Remove all grime, grease along with other pollutants with cleaning soap and water or perhaps a commercial cleaner. When the part isn't clean, you might not have the ability to evenly strip the anodized surface.
2. Put the part inside a nonreactive container, like a disposable plastic bucket or glass baking tray. Don't use metal containers, which might interact with the draining agent.
3. Apply draining agent. Spray the part evenly with oven cleaner, ensuring all surfaces are covered, or mix water and household lye before the color around the parts reduces. You might see dye leaking from the aluminum. Always add lye to water, not water to lye.
4. Wait for a finish to dissolve. If using oven cleaner, wait three minutes, then rinse the various components completely, scrubbing by having an old toothbrush. If using lye, wait roughly ten to fifteen minutes, with respect to the strength from the solution, then rinse the part in vinegar and scrub it. Or no anodized finish remains, repeat the draining process. Don't leave the draining agent on too lengthy, or else you may pit the top of aluminum.
5. Rinse every part in water that is clean. If the top of metal is becoming blackened in the draining agent, polish it having a mild abrasive cleaner along with a toothbrush. You can utilize the deanodized parts as-is, or re-anodize them.
